Coming off of the release of their sophomore album, Garden of Arms, Peter Wolf Crier’s supremely charismatic lyrics and fuzzy distortions take purpose through the harmonies of indie rock duo, Peter Pisano and Brian Moen. The men from Minneapolis, Minnesota take to the stage Thursday, November 10th, as they kick off the weekend with fellow crooners, Chairs Missing, project of Paul Remund, formerly of Tape Deck Mountain, and San Francisco’s Birds & Batterires.

The young and ambitious San Diego trio, Dirty Gold, is set to headline the second night alongside artists, Rafter and the newest buzz-band you will soon love, Oregon Bike Trails. The tendered aged high school crew that is Dirty Gold have spent the last few months preparing their experimental, surf-pop debut EP, Roar, which is set to release on Autumn Tone Records, Aquarium Drunkard’s label venture, April 12 of 2012.

Saturday brings to light the genius behind Los Angeles based performers, Lord Huron. The use of a polyrhythmic, folk pop vibe is enhanced by front man Ben Schneiders effortless vocals, Lord Huron have made waves throughout the indie community delivering music that could easily be the concluding soundtrack to any cheerful tale. Also taking to the stage alongside Lord Huron are Los Angeles and INDIGENOUS’ own So Many Wizards, who will fill your ears with dream pop that will linger for days. So Many Wizards are joined by and San Diego brothers, Writer. We expect 2012 to be a big year in respect to label deals for both bands.

Hailing from the streets of Brooklyn, New York and coveting on stage residency of the last night of the Four Day Weekend music fest is Real Estate. After releasing their sophomore album, Days, on October 18 of this year with Domino, the band has been touring the US and leaving us in a daze from their psychedelic output. Look for this record to make our end of year top 10. If you don’t have it, buy it now. Accompanying Real Estate that evening are Little Deadman and Big Troubles.

A music conference in San Diego? Yes, indeed. North Park Music Thing emerged a few years ago to not only showcase the abundance of talent emerging from the San Diego region, but to also educate the local community about the idiosyncrasies of the music business. Interestingly enough, it was at last year’s North Park Music Thing where INDIGENOUS was first introduced and swooned by the shoe-gaze psych-rockers, Tape Deck Mountain – now part our roster. This year will be no exception.

The Conference takes place August 13th and 14th, throughout the hub of San Diego’s creative culture, in North Park. It features panel discussions, workshops and demo review sessions by day and a plethora of live music by night. Get your badges here.

The full line-up was just announced and here are our top five picks of bands not to miss (in no particular order): Writer, Tape Deck Mountain, Little Deadman, LESANDS, and The Drowning Men.

INDIGENOUS will be hosting a private happy hour on Saturday, August 14th @ Bar Pink from 6-8pm. We’ll have two very special performances lined up, so be on the look out for our announcement.

Also, we’ll be representin’ on the the first panel of the conference, MUSIC INDUSTRY 101 – training wheels for the music biz. Be sure to come armed with lots of questions that will make us look really smart. Others panels we find relevant to our world of indie rock are The Future of Music PR, Touring on a Budget, Getting Your Music Licensed and Indie Labels: The Resurgence. Full workshop list here.

All proceeds from the North Park Music Thing are donated to the San Diego Music Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses its efforts on local musician assistance, music education, professional development, live performance and the annual San Diego Music Awards show recognizing creative achievement in the San Diego music community. The Foundation’s primary goal is to advance artistic growth and increase understanding, appreciation, enjoyment and interest in music and its ability to enhance and enrich the City of San Diego. A very cool thing to be a part of.

FUTURE SOUNDS and INDIGENOUS bring you the April San Diego Rumble featuring Writer, Pepper Rabbit, Black Mamba and a DJ set by Jamuel Saxon. Saturday, April 10th @ Bar Pink on 30th in North Park.

The music…

WRITER is comprised of brothers, Andy and James Ralph. We’ve had the pleasure of hearing their new EP and the new sound is less pop and more eclectic than their previous release, Blood Drops. We are really diggin it and are look forward to hearing the new songs live.

Traveling through the west coast Rumble Tour is LA’s psych-pop duo PEPPER RABBIT. With an endorsement from fellow Eastsiders, Local Natives, a feature in Under the Radar and the release of two separate EP’s last year, Clicks and Shakes; Pepper Rabbit are definitely a band to have on your radar.

Also on the bill are BLACK MAMBA, led by Aimee Sanchez who’s timeless voice perfectly lays over airy songs that make you feel warm and fuzzy. Coming off the 2009 Golden Birthday EP released last year, Black Mamba continues to make new music and we hope they have a new release this year.

Lastly, if you aren’t hip to the JAMUEL SAXON remix craze, get on it! Given that couple, Keith Milgaten and Aimee Sanchez from BLACK MAMBA and the Ralph brothers from WRITER make up this dancey group, it’s only fitting to have them collab on the tables for our Rumble night.

As always, we will be featuring tasty Trumer Pils beer specials, which we are officially hooked on.

FREE FREE FREE

Thanks to our Rumble partners Trumer Pils and SDDilaedin.

In a recent blog about the San Diego Music scene, our friends at Future Sounds highlight the abundance of talent coming out of San Diego. We could go on and on about how lucky we are to be connected to this thriving scene. Not only are many of these bands like Writer, Lights On, Apes of Wrath, and Tape Deck Mountain our friends, but their artistic talent never ceases to amaze us. Their music is consistently playing in the INDIGENOUS office and proudly, we are fans.

All we have to say is keep drinking the water, San Diego!

Click here to read the write up – we couldn’t have said it better.

Want more? Be sure to make it out to The Rumble — a monthly music showcase we put on with Future Sounds the first Saturday of every month @ The Casbah.
