Rarely touring the US, the experimental four piece, Clinic (UK), wrap up their fourteen-city tour in San Diego, in support of their sixth album, Bubblegum (Domino). Revered by fellow musicians, Clinic forever sounds like no one else but themselves, because no one else could even begin to sound like them. Since the late ’90s, they’ve beamed in other-worldly psychedelic-pop transmissions from their own parallel dimension.

2010 has been a big year for Pitchfork praised, The Fresh & Onlys (San Francisco). In addition to national tours as support for Deerhunter and Clinic, the band is keeping with their notorious urgent pace of releasing new material. This year The Fresh & Onlys released a handful of exclusive 7” singles, the August In My Mind EP (Captured Tracks) and now to cap off the year, Play It Strange (In The Red Records) arrives. This newest album is the first recording done outside the band’s own analog home studio and is a shimmering pop record full of infectious melodic hooks. We were pleased to discover The Fresh & Onlys playing to a packed house at Noise Pop Festival last year and are looking forward to them impressing The Casbah crowd.

Supporting the bill are San Diego’s Lights On and The Loons. In July, Lights On released their debut full-length Here Comes The Ocean, which is making waves in the blogosphere, including write ups by Brooklyn Vegan, RCRD LBL, My Old Kentucky Blog, Spinner, Deli Magazine, and airplay on KCRW.

Sixties-influenced garage rockers, The Loons, recently released their third album, Red Dissolving Rays of Light (BOMP Records), featuring ex-members of the Tell-Tale Hearts (the infamous Mike Stax of Ugly Things) and the Diaboliks. The album is comprised of all new material in the band’s distinctively original style, which combines the hard, kinetic drive of European freakbeat, the melodic cool of the ‘66 Sunset Strip, and intense, atmospheric psychedelia. The Loons will support longtime friends, Clinic, in San Francisco and Los Angeles and are looking forward to playing with them in their home city.

A big thanks to Trumer Pils for providing free tastings for the first hour as well as beers for the bands. You guys rock!  All Wrong and The Plans Change we’re fantastic, The Drowning Men once again brought their A game – this band keeps getting better and better, and Tape Deck Mountain melted faces. If your weren’t there, you really  missed something special, but not to worry,  there will be others —> A quick update, The Rumble will be dark for January and we will kick off 2010 with a bang on Saturday night, February 6th, at our new location in North Park, Bar Pink.
