After two amazing years, The Rumble San Diego is coming to an end and we couldn’t think of a better way to commemorate the event, then with our San Diego Music Thing showcase on Saturday September 10th. We’ve gathered a bill of some our favorite bands and partnered with Bar Pink for an epic night.

Haling from Echo park, jangly folk duo Count Fleet, are dropping their Stay Here / Favorite Fiction 7″ (Manzan Records) Tuesday August 2nd. Described as “earnest and winsome” by Buzzbands LA, title track “Stay Here” is an upbeat hearty folk offering, while “Favorite Fiction” is a blues flecked 70’s styled pop opus.
Led by video director [...]
A cacophony of synths, pedals, drum machines and looped beats, the Oakland-based analog synth duo, James & Evander have been churning out future pop since 2005. Comprised of college friends, Adam Myatt and Glenn Jackson, their discography showcases an exploration of ambient Dntel influenced techno and woozy weed-wave.
Their arsenal of material ranges from their [...]
In the summer of 2010, COYOL recorded their first album, a self-titled EP on 2″ tape at the Carriage House in Silverlake, CA. The brainchild of Nick Hessler, this LA based band could easily be the love child of Robert Smith and Morrisey with an 80’s tinged pedigreed that puts all imitators to shame. With a few 7″s out via Captured Tracks and a much anticipated full length in the works, Catwalk’s jangly lo-fi pop pop confections will [...]
COYOL is a collision of the old Southwest and the new Los Angeles. A seemingly contradictory duo, COYOL is a beautiful juxtaposition between polished and poignant vocalist, Céleigh Champan, and unrefined, avant-garde artist, John Isaac Watters.
Chapman grew up singing country standards in the juke joints of Bakersfield, California. Her first performance was “Home On The [...]

We’re back and glad to present the first (super-dreamy) installment of The Rumble San Diego with our friends at Future Sounds. This month featuring TV Girl, Dirty Gold, Letting Up Despite Great Faults and one of our favorite DJs, Cory Casey, spinning records between sets. Also something new this month, because so many of you [...]

Given our sweet spot for new wave synth-pop and throw in the fact that these sounds come from Helsinki, we’re loving Big Wave Riders.

We’ve followed San Diego’s Writer for a few years now. In the past, Writer have experimented with their sound and line up, teetering back and forth between indie-pop and lo-fi garage along with adding and taking away players in the band. However, it appears they’ve undoubtedly found their groove. Now stripped down and comprised of brothers, [...]
